Alex & Lisa Marrakech Wedding

After spending some time with Alex & Lisa travelling in Morocco we are now more than happy to call them our good friends. To explain to anyone who does not know the journey they are on, this was not your usual wedding country, venue or couple. We went through a lot together in 8 days, but for now we want to share a beautiful setting that for them was wedding number 45.

We spent a few days in Essaouira together which gave us a chance to really get to know each other. We then drove from the coast in to Marrakech. The wedding was organised by Boutique Souk at Riad el Fenn, a real oasis in the middle of the Medina, with open spaces, palm trees, pools, spas and wild tortoises!

After having some fun getting ready in traditional wedding clothing the ceremony was held at sunset on the rooftop with the Medina and beautiful Atlas mountains as a backdrop. Atlas rose lolly-pops were used as as a central place to hold the ceremony and a head scarf was purchased from the market last minute to finish off Lisa’s look.

After the ceremony Alex & Lisa braved one of the craziest market squares in Africa in full traditional dress! We were all apprehensive but we were met with great reactions from the locals ululating and asking excitedly if Alex and Lisa had just got married.

We look forward to sharing more of our journey together in the near future 🙂
